What Are You Expecting?

This is Easter weekend. Happy Easter!

Here in this part of Texas, I've been told, there has never been any measurable snowfall officially recorded in the month of April.

So when Easter falls in April, most people expect to be able to wear spring attire to Easter services.

Not this year.

We woke up to very cold temperatures ... and snow today. Still no 'measurable accumulation'... just flurries ... but still it snowed today... in North Texas. And snow is possible throughout the night. At church time on Sunday morning, it will be cloudy and upper 30's. Not spring weather by Texas standards.

Who would have expected us to have snow in North Texas in April? Not most people that I know.

Over 2000 years ago, our Loving Lord died on an old rugged cross. From what people knew at that time, when someone died ... they were dead. Gone. Their life on earth was over. Oh, sure, our Loving Lord had raised Lazarus from the dead but this time our Loving Lord was the one who was dead. Who could raise Him? Most people would not have expected our Loving Lord to come back from the dead. Most people were not expecting Resurrection Sunday.

What are you expecting this Easter season? Are you expecting the obvious or are you expecting the unexpected? Are you open to the blessings that are possible when you leave room for the unexpected? Or are you holding on so hard, to tradition and the way you think things should be, that you leave no room for the unexpected, no room for a resurrected Lord to work His will in your life? Will you choose to expect, and be blessed by, the unexpected?

Isaiah 64:3 (New International Version) For when you did awesome things that we did not expect, you came down, and the mountains trembled before you.
