Are You Appreciative?

My male cat, Tiger, loves to be petted ... on his own terms ...

When he wants to be petted, he comes and sits on the floor by my legs and just stares at me.

And stares at me.

He stays put and stares with full expectation that I will understand his desire and that I will statisfy that desire by picking him up and petting him in his favorite places, one of which is just under his chin.

Once I put him back on the floor, if I have met his need, he will stay and rub his furry body against my leg. It's his way of saying "Thank you!" He can not reciprocate so all he can do is let me know he appreciated it.

Aren't we like Tiger in two ways?

First, we seem to come to our Loving Lord on our own terms. And when we do come to Him we often just sit there and stare up at Him and say "Come on, I'm here. Meet my needs!" This is not really a good thing, is it?

Then we are like Tiger in that our Loving Lord has given us His very best and we have no way to fully reciprocate what He has done. The best we can do is give Him back our best which pales in comparison to the price He paid for our salvation.

Little Lesson Life Expression
How are you coming to our Loving Lord? Are you only wanting Him working in your life when you want/need him to or are you daily dying to self and letting Him work His will in your life each and every day? And how long has it been since you tried to show your appreciation for what He has done for you? Will you take a few minutes to say "Thank you" via a sincere prayer and then show your appreciation for Him by sharing Him with someone today?

1 Chronicles 28:9 (Amplified Bible)
And you, Solomon my son, know the God of your father [have personal knowledge of Him, be acquainted with, and understand Him; appreciate, heed, and cherish Him] and serve Him with a blameless heart and a willing mind. For the Lord searches all hearts and minds and understands all the wanderings of the thoughts. If you seek Him [inquiring for and of Him and requiring Him as your first and vital necessity] you will find Him; but if you forsake Him, He will cast you off forever!

Is Your Light Artificial or Natural?

Remember the plant I told you about?

It finally died ... completely.

So dead I just had to throw it away. I knew I could not bring it back this time. It was gone.

When I realized this, I looked around at its surroundings and realized that the only light it had was artificial light. No direct natural sunlight and it was a creation that needed sunlight.

Little Lesson Life Expression
What light are letting into your life today? Are you relying on the the artificial light of the world and trusting in worldly things like money, politics, or relationships? Is that light keeping you from growing into who you could and should be? Or are you relying on the natural LIght of the world by staying in the Word of our Loving Lord? Are you letting the Bible provide the nourishment that comes from the Son? If not, why not start today?

Psalm 119:105 (New International Version)

Your word is a lamp to my feet
and a light for my path

What's Inside Of You?

As we walked through the store yesterday, I saw a wall plaque that read something like: "Inside me lives a skinny person who is screaming to get out. I can usually shut her up with cookies."

Ah yes! That's me for sure... except I shut mine up with Skittles!

So it got me thinking...of course...what's the Little Lesson my Loving Lord would have me learn from that funny little sign that caught my eye.

Inside me lives a writer who is screaming to get out. I can usually shut her up by spending time playing games online instead of writing.

Inside me lives a great cook screaming to get out. I can usually shut her up by hiding the cookbooks and eating dinner out.

Inside me lives a great warrior for our Loving Lord screaming to get out. I can usually shut her up by focusing on me instead of Him. Focusing on my wants/desires instead of His will/way.

Little Lesson Life Expression
What person lives inside of you and is screaming to get out? What does our Loving Lord want to do in and through you that you are preventing by shutting up the person inside that is screaming to get out? How do you fill in the blanks "Inside me lives a ________ screaming to get out. I can usually shut him/her up by _________" Will you let that person out to do the work of Christ today?

Colossians 3:23-24 (Amplified Bible)
Whatever may be your task, work at it heartily (from the soul), as [something done] for the Lord and not for men, Knowing [with all certainty] that it is from the Lord [and not from men] that you will receive the inheritance which is your [real] reward. [The One Whom] you are actually serving [is] the Lord Christ (the Messiah).
