Are You Destroying Yourself?

Tigger, our girl cat, chews herself. Actually chews her fur until she is raw. And she's not ashamed of it. She sits there and destroys herself.

We try to stop her. Not much works. We clap loud to get her attention. Shout her name. Stomp our feet. The quickest way to get her to stop is to go after her and then she runs away.

But that doesn't mean she stops chewing.

Sometimes she will be chewing in our line of sight. We will get her attention and she will stop and stare at us...briefly...then she just gets up, walks out of sight, lays down out of our sight line...and starts chewing again.

Little Lesson Life Expression
When our Loving Lord catches us doing something that destroys us physically, spiritually, emotionally or mentally, can He get our attention? And if He does, how do we respond? Do we see His foot-stomping for what it is...getting our attention for our own good? Or do we try to walk out of sight and keep on doing the same thing? Do we "Amen" the preacher on Sunday morning as he steps on our toes and then Monday through Saturday keep on living as we want to instead of as we know we should?

Isaiah 3:9 (New International Version)
The look on their faces testifies against them; they parade their sin like Sodom; they do not hide it. Woe to them! They have brought disaster upon themselves.

Psalm 34:7 (Amplified Bible)
The Angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear Him [who revere and worship Him with awe] and each of them He delivers.

Sharon, Our little dog does this, too. I had never thought about God getting our attention to protect us against ourselves! Thanks. Now every time Dixie chews and scratches, it will be a reminder for ME!

Uh yeah, there "might" be times I'm guilty of this! Great lesson.
